How's Your Soul By Judah Smith Overview
I read How's Your Soul with my fiancé about a year and a half ago. We would go to our favorite park, bring some bread for the ducks, and after walking around we'd sit and read this book.
It brought strength to our relationship, we created a good habit and awesome memories, as well as connecting with God differently (besides the usual going to church).
These are some of the things that I learned from this book:
1. Your soul can't be satisfied without Jesus: See, people get this one mixed up. No partner, dream job, dream house, etc can fulfill this part of you. There is something that comes before any of these people or things, and that is, your personal time with God.
2. If you keep number one number one, then everything else falls into place:
What do I mean by this? Well, if your soul is content, you can focus on making others' day! You'll be a more positive person, more lively, and more secure of who you are. Not only who you are in God, but who you are from within. You can start your day with a different perspective, quit the pettiness, and find meaning in the little things!
3. Stop beating yourself up so hard: I am trying to learn this everyday. I look at my monthly calendar and I start to freak about all the important things coming up. I'd beat myself up for not reading the bible often (we should be concerned about this, but never losing sleep or joy because you haven't had time)
4. God's opinion about you matters the most: Of course you want to have a good reputation, but sometimes no matter how much you try, people will always have all these perspectives and negative views about you. Can't help it. Focus on this, and your soul will be much happier!
So there it is! I got this book at Barnes, but I've seen it cheaper on Amazon from time to time. Definitely have to check it out!
