Relationships/marriage
Am I an expert in the matter? Absolutely not. However, experience speaks wonders. Experience is my friend, more than anything I ever planned on saying!
Hey y'all!
So I really felt like writing about relationships today because whether you're single or married, we are all still learning about the subject. So many opinions out there! And this post ain't gonna be another one.
Let's pray first. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for pouring Your spirit among us, thank you for leading us in the way everlasting and keeping us safe everyday. Lord Jesus please give us wisdom to be patient and not make mistakes that we can avoid by simply obeying what Your Word has to say. In Your Precious Name, amen!!
1 Corinthians 7, 1 Corinthians 13 and the Book of Song of Solomon among others are the main scriptures when it comes to relationships, we shouldn't fear or doubt God's promises, He is Faithful and IN HIS TIME He'll send the person He has already prepared for you! You are going to be in shock! But that's how the Lord works: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
Maybe you're struggling right now, and you are tired of waiting. You feel like it's too late to date, you are so anxious and desperate that you might've fallen into some kind of sin, I pray you haven't, but if you continue to rely on your flesh and your emotions nothing good will come out of that! I've experienced it myself, overthinking and trying to figure things out outside of prayer can get really harmful! The devil takes advantage of that to overwhelm you and put evil thoughts in your head. So please my beloved brother or sister, turn your eyes upon Jesus!
Let me tell you something we need to be reminded of... God's timing is perfect!! I know for us it seems like a thousand years! We ask ourselves when? and how? and who? and where? But if you would just refocus and let God show you what's really important right now, you would understand the reason why He doesn't want you to date just yet. No matter how old you are, or what you're going through, or what you've prayed for, you need to remember this in your heart:
1 Corinthians 7:32-34 "I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord;but the married man is anxious about the affairs of the world, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided."
Serving the Lord is amazing! Some people think that if they get married they will not be able to serve anymore, that's not true!
The Lord will not allow that, you just have to pray more and be more responsible, it might get tough at times but there's nothing better than serving the Lord with another person! Perhaps, your wife or husband.
When you're single, there's nothing better than serving the Lord with all that freedom you have! You don't care about anything else besides that! You don't care about looking good everyday or all these little details married people face.
You are able to serve with brothers and sisters in Christ, and you get to serve the Lord on your own as well. It's awesome!
So don't complain about your situation right now, God wants it to be this way! If you're married, praise the Lord! Keep fighting the good fight with your husband or wife and keep serving Jesus wholeheartedly! If you're single, Praise the Lord, but hey, did you know that you're more blessed? Don't believe me? It's written in God's Word! Verse 38: "So then, he who marries his fiancée does well; and he who refrains from marriage will do better."
So, whether you marry or not, you're still going to be blessed by the Lord, singles, as long as you stay single! You know what I mean by that right? Single is single! No friends with benefits, and all that crazy stuff! Otherwise might as well get married! And a side note for those who marry, you can't marry an unbeliever, in other words, you can't marry someone who doesn't know Christ! And you have to be careful with this, some people say they're Christians, but after they get married they turn into a different person! Kind of like wolves in sheep clothing! By their fruits you will know them! (Read Matthew 7:15-20 and 2 Corinthians 6:14)
1 Corinthians 7 also talks about the gift of self-control in verses 7 and 8, Some of you have the gift of singleness! You have purposed in your heart not to get married and devote your whole life to Christ! That's amazing and perfectly fine! This is a gift from God, these people are examples for us to follow! But for others, they know they don't have that gift and are praying and waiting for God's promise, practicing purity and devoting themselves completely to Christ!
The purpose of this teaching is for you to examine your life. If you have fallen into sin, repent and don't go that route anymore, be serious about your body and your relationship with God. You are the temple of God! Sadly the world has twisted how relationships should be!
But we find hope and confidence in the Lord, so don't ask why, or when or how, just continue to be faithful, and one day... one day you won't believe your eyes! Just like Adam, he literally was put to sleep!!!! And when he woke up he was amazed when he first saw Eve! I mean it's funny but that's how it should be! Rest and serve God with all your gifts and talents, with all your heart, with all your might. And honestly, try to stoping worry about tomorrow so much. Focus, because Jesus can return anytime, and this is the most important thing right now. More than any date
It's okay to meet new people, and get to know what you're looking for in a person. But don't get your eyes off the Lord, pray and pray a lot, He will answer you!
