What do to after getting engaged in 5 steps
Girl!
First of all, congratulations!! This is such a fun stage in a couple's life. There are lots of mixed emotions and a million things going on in your head. Before you start getting super overwhelmed and anxious, let's check out some things that will help you focus and go back to basics.
1. Enjoy your engagement!
I've seen so many people rushing into things, and at the end of the day this isn't beneficial for anyone.
Enjoy this beautiful time of calling your person "fiance," hanging out, and getting to know each other deeply. The big things will get done eventually, one step at a time.
2. Go on venue tours
Some venues are so popular that they get booked out a year in advance. This should definitely be your next step after a couple of months of being engaged. When it comes to the venue, and of course the budget, make sure you pick something not only that you like, but also one that offers great vendors, options, deals, and packages!
3. Schedule engagement photos
This is so much fun! Make sure you get a professional photographer, your future self will thank you!
Bring any props or significant things that speak about you two, and of course, the scenery. Think about a place that is remarkable for y'all.
4. Explore online tools to make your wedding planning much easier!
The beauty of technology is that you can save lots of money and time by using online tools! Being minimalistic (and paperless) when you're trying to do a million things at once is key! (And less stressful) We sent the ceremony invitations and save-the-dates in one envelope. Save paper, hello!
Wedding websites nowadays not only allow your guests to RSVP, but also provide your venue address, set up your registry, honeymoon fund, local vendors, and more! There are also wedding checklist apps where it shows you a timeline with all the things that need to get done before the wedding.
Suggested wedding websites/apps: The Knot, Wedding Wire, Zola.
5. Make sure your mental sanity is on point
Yes, choosing the themes and colors, to booking vendors, cake tastings, music selections, decor, coordinate with your bridal party, outfits, accessories, gifts, picking out your wedding bands, honeymoon plans, and everything else will fall into place, but please keep in mind you cannot do everything in a day, and certainly not alone either.
Rely on friends, apps, vendors, and try to find a wedding coordinator at least the few months prior to the wedding to relieve the stress. Get a massage, read, go hiking, keep going on dates with your now fiance, and get purty! Don't forget to live, and definitely have lots of fun on the bridal shower and bachelorette, if you decide to have either or both.
Take deep breaths, and only get a couple of things done each month. Enjoy your engagement in the midst of chaos as much as you can!
Happy planning!!
